New playing and social members welcome!

With a new season just around the corner, we welcome existing and new members to the Club. If you're an existing member and you haven't yet renewed your membership for this season, we'd encourage you to do so as soon as possible by following the 'Registration 2024' link in the left hand menu.

If you are not currently a member but are interested in playing for one of our men's teams this year, please contact Martin Pluck (pluckmartin@gmail.com). We currently have 6 teams that play on weekends during the summer, and we train on Wednesdays at Overton Drive.

We are proactively encouraging women to play cricket and currently have two women's teams, so if you are interested in joining them, please contact Helen Quinlan (helencquinlan@gmail.com) or Nehal Dave (Nehaldave8@hotmail.com). Training takes place on Thursday evenings each week during the summer, and matches are normally played on a Sunday.

Our girls teams train on a Thursday evening and the boys on a Friday evening at Overton Drive, although Year 1 and 2 children train together on Fridays. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Jon Gritten (jongritten@gmail.com) regarding the boys teams and Helen Quinlan (helencquinlan@gmail.com) for more information on the girls teams. Matches are normally played on Sundays and some mid-week evenings. If you are a parent of a junior, you are welcome to join us at the matches and the training sessions, and we'd encourage you to take out a Social Membership too.

The bar is open from 4.30pm on Friday evenings, and anyone can take out a Social Membership (follow the 'Registration 2024' link in the left hand menu), which then gives you a discounted rate on drinks!

With sadness we announce the passing of Kulwant Nagra. Many older juniors and their families will remember her Sunday mornings’ sandwich and refreshment bar, and her delightful company during the Club’s second Jamaican tour. Our sympathy to club members Jonathan Mudhoo and Victoria (Tor) Barrett-Mudhoo and other members of Kulwant’s family.

The funeral will be at The South Chapel, City of London Crematorium, 12.30 on Thursday 18 April. All club members are welcome.

Macmillan has been a great support to Kulwant and her family during this time and so the family has set up a donation page in tribute - https://www.muchloved.com/Donate/DonationAmount?id=3d940628-6014-461b-ba25-465216cc4eb4

For further detail including a pictorial tribute, please contact Tor, toriabarrett@hotmail.co.uk

Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge

Congratulations to the hardy herons who completed the notorious Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge - walking 24 miles in 12 hours and climbing the three highest peaks in Yorkshire – on Saturday 16th March. Big Shout-out to Jeggsy for organising the event.

So now you can do your bit by donating at https://www.gofundme.com/f/herons3peaks

The club is raising funds for our long-term charitable partner, “The Wanstead Charity”, a local charity providing for the homeless and those in need in the local community, as well as for club funds so we can continue our capital investment into our facilities.

Any support would be much appreciated.

Many thanks!

New Principal Club Sponsor

I am delighted to announce that the club has entered into an agreement with Bradley & Co ( https://www.bradleyandco.uk/ ), whereby with effect from 1st January 2023, the West End and City based Human Resources strategy and Management Consultancy firm will take over from Keatons as the club’s principal sponsor.

Said Bradley & Co founder Paul Bradley; “For my professional life I have taken immense pride in nurturing, cultivating, and developing relationships and talent. My career technically began at Wanstead CC where I completed my school work experience in the early nineties. With lifelong roots in Wanstead, and a long-standing personal connection to the club, I am proud to be investing in grass roots cricket, and the Wanstead community”.

Many of you will remember Paul’s late mother, Linda, who provided wonderful catering at the club for many years.

I would like to thank Keatons for the amazing support, which they have given the club over the past 8 years.
